Colour Study Series
This series combines the swirling compositions of my Vortex of Love Series and Around the World Series with the colours I've been favouring in my most recent Series, Dance of Colours. Vortex of Love was all about pairing down colours and compositions and really simply interpreting feelings such as love in visual form, and I continued this with the Colour Studies series but after becoming a mother, it seems that 'love' as an emotion has taken on a more vibrant and very different colour spectrum. In the Colour Studies series I am really trying to understand how colours can help us interpret our own feelings, including love, and in turn help viewers connect with the beautiful in the abstract.
Past and present mingle and merge in these works of art, expressing the vastness of our interior worlds through eddies, whirls and splashes of acrylic paint over a collaged and primed surface. These paintings start out with an abstract reference to nature and our emotional responses to the changes in our environment. Emotional accumulations of acrylic paint and gold leaf are built up with layers and layers of polyeurethane creating a glass like surface that is then sealed with acrylic glazing to ensure a unique and long-lasting painting.
